In Japan, you can still find crafters and artists who produce household goods by hand, one at a time. They have studied and trained in the traditional arts, which have been handed down through the ages. Their traditionally made pieces are intended to serve as functional “homeware” that blend into modern life.
Most of our artists work alone or with family. They share in common a deep love for hand-crafted homeware. They involve as much as possible, their own hands in every gesture of life -- making their own food, clothing and shelter. They keep life simple and surround themselves only by what they think is necessary. They discover a richness in such a life.
Objects carefully made by hand, provide through their unevenness and small distortions, a source of expression that you do not find in factory-produced products. Handwriting cannot be mass-produced.
We only work with artists and crafters with whom we have a direct relationship. We are confident their work is of the highest quality, but also perfect for daily use.
